Abstract
The paper presents a study on beat induction in an inter-disciplinary domain: the computational modeling of music cognition. Beat induction is the process in which a regular isochronous pattern (the beat) is activated while listening to music. The construction of a beat-percept is a fundamental aspect in the processing, coding and experience of temporal patterns. Next to an overview of the different aspects of beat induction, a taxonomy is given of the existing computational models. Aim of this research is to get a better insight in this only partially understood aspect of music perception.
